Gloria Genevieve Kuhrts was born December 14, 1923 in Cherokee, Iowa to Milo G. and Helen E. (Warburton) Clow. She was baptized and confirmed on August 18, 1946 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Quimby, Iowa. She attended Cherokee County Rural schools graduating from Wilson High School in Cherokee in 1941. She taught school for four years in rural Cherokee before marrying Earl Henry Kuhrts on October 2, 1946 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee.
They farmed west of Holstein before moving to the Hanover Community in 1951. Taking care of her family was her life. She was very active in the church and community, was a member of Ladies Aid, a 4-H leader and in the PTA.
Gloria and Earl retired from farming in 1983 and then moved into Alta. Earl passed away on April 29, 2001. Gloria stayed in her home until April, 2010 when she moved into Wel-Life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Earl.
Survivors include her children, Larry (Linda) Kuhrts of Alta, Roger (Sally) Kuhrts of Galva, Joan (Rick) Saathoff of Canton, South Dakota; grandchildren, Angela (Arnold) Tillman of New Boston, New Hampshire, Lynn (Scott) Bouska of Laurens, Becky (Jesse) Coudron of Brookings, South Dakota, Beth (fiancée Mark Poss) Saathoff of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; great-grandchildren, Cassandra Hoffard, Brooke Bouska and Jacob Coudron; a brother, Edwin “Bud” (Dorothy) Clow of Cherokee; and many nieces and nephews.
