Elizabeth M. Cunningham, age 52, of Anthon, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at her sister’s home of Anthon.  A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Anthon with the Fr. Terry A. Roder officiating.  Burial will be at the Mount Saint Joseph’s Cemetery of Anthon.  A visitation will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a scriptural prayer service at 7:00 PM at the church. 

Elizabeth Mary Cunningham was born November 25, 1963 to Charles and Edna (Petersen) Cunningham in Battle Creek, Iowa.  Beth was raised with her five siblings in Anthon, Iowa.  She was baptized, received her first communion and was confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Anthon.  As a child she was involved in an automobile accident in which she suffered a traumatic brain injury.  She graduated from Anthon- Oto High School with the class of 1983.  

One of Beth’s greatest joys was becoming a mother to her daughter, Lisa, a grandmother, and a loving aunt to her sibling’s children. She was also a great caregiver to her parents.  She enjoyed volunteering and helping at Bingo and also supported and helped her neighbors and community members in need.  She volunteered for events with Missing and Exploited Children.  In her final days, she was able to complete and publish her autobiography.  She was a giving person even until her final day when she became an organ donor.

She loved to play cards, Bingo, attend concerts and enjoyed trips to the casino.  She thoroughly enjoyed playing with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  

Beth is survived by her daughter Lisa d’Auguste (Jim) of Dakota Dunes, SD; mother, Edna Cunningham of Anthon, IA; grandchildren, Charlie, Mitchell, Aiden, Ella and Paige; sisters, Ruth Moody of Moville, IA, Kathy (Chris) Jacobsen of Anthon, IA, Loann Letterly of Mapleton, IA, Lorna Jepsen (Jeremy Lukins) of Holstein, IA; brother, Shon Cunningham of Anthon, IA; numerous nieces and nephews, several close friends and beloved dogs, Lucy, Sophia, Sassy and Lady.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles “Frank” Cunningham; paternal grandparents, James and Mary Cunningham; maternal grandparents Carl and Ruth Petersen; brothers-in-law, Jay Moody and Robert Letterly; and several aunts, uncles and other family members.
