Harry C. Endrulat, age 90, of Holstein, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the Horn Memorial Hospital of Ida Grove.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Holstein with the Rev. Matthew Martens officiating.  Burial will be at the Holstein Cemetery of Holstein with military rites conducted by the American Legion Dessel-Schmidt Post #225 of Holstein.  A visitation will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein.  Memorials may be directed to the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Holstein.

Harry Carl Endrulat was born July 3, 1926 to William and Hulda (Kistenmacher) Endrulat at Battle Creek, IA.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Holstein.  He graduated from Holstein High School in 1944.  Upon graduation he joined the Army March 21, 1945 where he trained as an auto mechanic and served in Army of Occupation in Japan.  He was discharged November 27, 1946.

Harry was united in marriage to Esther Scherner on February 11, 1951 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Holstein.  The couple was blessed with five children: Harry, Susan, Ray, Becky and Tim.

He was a lifetime farmer who enjoyed working and tinkering with machinery, always keeping it in excellent condition.  He enjoyed working with livestock and appreciated all of God’s creatures.

He was active in St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served as deacon.  He was a member of the American Legion Dessel-Schmidt Post #225 and was committed to Tuesday night Bingo.   He enjoyed fishing locally and in Canada, playing cards with friends and family and he traveled with a cribbage board in his pickup.  He liked dancing at friend’s homes in his younger years, then at the Lake View Ballroom.

Harry is survived by his wife, Esther of Holstein, IA; children, Harry (Angie) Endrulat of Lincoln, NE, Susan Endrulat of Holstein, IA, Ray (Gala) Endrulat of Ida Grove, IA, Becky Endrulat of Tucson, AZ and Tim (Crystal) Endrulat of Battle Creek, IA; 21 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren plus twin great-granddaughters arriving in January and sister Rosie Bauman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Florence (Ken) Thornhill and Dorothy (Charles) Snyder and brother Bill Endrulat.
