Paul Voge Obituary

Paul V. Voge, age 63, of Galva, passed away on Monday, April 09, 2018 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center of Storm Lake.  A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church of Holstein with the Rev. Doresa K. Collogan officiating.  Burial will be at the Holstein Cemetery of Holstein.  A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the church.

Paul Vincent Voge was born on October 12, 1954 in Alta, Iowa to Walter Eggert and Geneva May (Leonard) Voge.  Paul was a lifelong Galva, Iowa resident and graduated from Galva High School.  Upon graduation he spent one year at the University of Iowa.

Paul was united in marriage to Debra Jean Thompson on December 27, 1975.  To this union three children were born, Matthew, Philip and Bethany.  Debra passed away in 1989.  Paul was united in marriage to Lois Ann Miller Brockman on July 27, 1991 and gained two more children, Shari and Travis.

Paul farmed on his family farm for 44 years, worked at Jacques Seed for 25 years as well as being a Federal Meat Inspector for many years.  Family was the most important thing to Paul.  He spent countless hours watching his children and grandchildren participate in their many events.  He loved to golf, and was proud of his hole in one on hole #4 at the Holstein Country Club.  He enjoyed hunting, horseshoes, and was a collector of guns, comic books, baseball cards and antique pop bottles.  You could hear him playing his trombone in the community bands.  Paul had an unmistakable voice and was well known to Galva-Holstein Pirate and Ridgeview Raptor fans as the voice in the press box for their football games as well as helping with field events at track meets.  He was the recipient of the IHSAA Mo Kelley award to recognize his 25 years of service as an announcer. He also served on the Galva-Holstein School Board for many years.  Paul was a “Keeper of Useless Knowledge,” always willing to enlighten others with his trivia.  He was a longtime member of the Galva First United Methodist Church, where he served as President of the Ad Council for many years and portrayed Jesus Christ in the Living Last Supper for 13 years.

Paul is survived by his wife, Lois of Galva, IA; daughter, Shari (Craig) Head of Panama, NE and children, Christopher, Brooklyn and Colton; son, Travis (Kris) Brockman of Holstein, IA and children, Andrew, Mabel and Ethan; son, Matthew (Kallie) Voge of Holstein, IA and children, McKenzie and Addison; daughter, Bethany (Todd) Schossow of Galva, IA and children, Braleigh, Kendra and Tate; mother-in-law, Mildred Thompson; brothers, Gerald Voge and Pat (Anne) Voge; sister, Karen (Caroll) Perkins; sisters-in-law, Jyl Voge, Nancy (Dave) Wych, Margaret Thompson, Patty (Duane) Wilken, Sharon (Dan) Gildersleeve and Mary (Dan) Halley; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Bonnie) Thompson, Alan Warneke, Jim (Bev) Prauner, Dave (Robin) Miller, Jim (Jan) Miller and Tim (Marcus) Miller.
