Brad W. Utesch, age 63, of Washta, passed away on Friday, August 04, 2017 at his home of rural Washta.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 09, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the Grace United Methodist Church of Correctionville with the Pastor Ron Rice officiating.  Burial will be at the Good Hope Cemetery of rural Correctionville.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 08, 2017 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Correctionville.

Brad W. Utesch was born August 27, 1953 to William and Mary (Fey) Utesch in Schaller, Iowa.  He attended country school at Rural School Summit #2 through the 7th grade and graduated in 1971 from Eastwood High School.  Brad then went on to study in the Ag Program at Iowa State University.

He was united in marriage to Karen D. Finzen on June 22, 1973 in Correctionville, Iowa.  To this union three children were born.

Brad devoted his entire lifetime to Triple U Ranch and the cattle business operation.  The ranch was his heart and soul and he was dependant on the partnership of his dad and two brothers, Craig and Kirk.

Brad was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville.  He belonged to the Woodbury Co. Cattlemen’s Association, National Cattlemen’s Association, and the State of Iowa Cattlemen’s Association.  He enjoyed helping his children raise and show cattle and was a supporting member of Rock-Kee-Union 4-H Club.  In addition to doing the work that he loved: farming, buying and selling cattle, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to Iowa State games, golfing, skiing in Colorado and water skiing in Okoboji.

He is survived by his children, Amie (Brad) Bastian of Appleton, WI, Brandon (Blue West) Utesch of Walnut Creek, CA, and Kari (Brandon) Livermore of Sioux City, IA; grandchildren, Breanna and Connor Bastian and Cheyanne Livermore; previous wife of 36 years, Karen (Finzen) Utesch; brothers, Craig (Elaine) Utesch and Kirk (Barbara) Utesch; and sister, Cathy Pansegrau.  He also leaves his beloved companion and friend Tami Clarke of Beaver Falls, PA and her sons, Michael and Matthew Clarke.

Brad was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sherrie.

It was important to Brad that everyone know giving blood is essential and appreciative as a cancer patient, and his life depended on it for the last 21 months of his illness.
