Dorothy M. Wittrock, age 88, of Holstein, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the Unity Point Health – St. Luke’s of Sioux City. 

     A private family funeral service will be held at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein with Doresa K. Collogan officiating the service.

orothy Mae Lenz Wittrock was born December 5, 1927 at Silver Township, Cherokee County to Oscar and Ella Andresen Lenz.  She attended Silver No. 6 country school.  

    Dorothy and Robert Wittrock were married June 12, 1945 at the Methodist parsonage in Cherokee, Iowa.  They were married for 56 years.  To this union six children were born, Karen Ann, Sandra Kay, Linda Sue, Robert William, Richard Lee and Diane Delores.

    Dorothy was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and canning many fruits and vegetables.  She enjoyed garden club, was a Hugger Clown and was a member of Knit Wits.  She was a current member of U.M.W. and the United Methodist Church of Holstein.  

    Dorothy was employed with the Holstein Elementary School, V.T.I. and Holstein Good Samaritan Society.  She cleaned many homes and enjoyed babysitting.

    She is survived by her children, Karen Gibbins of Kansas City, MO, Linda Reincke (Leslie) of Denison, IA, Robert Jr. (Luann) Wittrock of Cherokee, IA, Richard (Wilma) Wittrock of Rockwell City, IA, and Diane (David) Scott of Holstein.  She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.  

    Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; infant daughter Sandra Kay; and brothers James Lenz and Wayne Lenz.

    Dorothy attained the age of 88 years, 11 month and 15 days.
