Bobbi Jo Mendoza was born September 22, 1967 to Robert and Barbara (Phillips) Collins in California.
She held a variety of jobs in packing plant production such as at IBP in Storm Lake, Wilson’s packing plant in Cherokee, Tyson Foods in Waterloo. She worked the cold and the hot side of production for many of her jobs and was USDA certified. She retired on her 40th birthday after being diagnosed with stage four breast cancer in September 2008. She was given six weeks to live but agreed to do experimental treatments for the FDA. She did three different kinds of experimental treatments and was cancer free at the end of the experiment. She loved her grandbabies so much and they kept her fighting to battle her cancer. She also had two hangman fractures in her neck which proved that she was a strong and independent woman!
Bobbi Jo loved working on her Camero and playing BINGO and Powerball.
She is survived by her son, Rodney Lee Jr.; daughter, Barbrae Raver; mother, Barbara Collins; grandchildren, Jazmin Lee, Vernon Gebers III, Elizabeth Lee, Sariah Jo Lee, Mercedes Lee, Emmett Green, Aubriana Green, Drew Green, Jr.; brothers, John Collins and William Michael; sister, Lisa Perman; aunt, Candy McCann; and many aunts, uncles and cousins on the Collins side of the family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert; granddaughter, Dianica Hope Lee; and aunts, Mary, Ruby and Jannie Collins.
