Doreen R. Todd

Doreen R. Todd, age 73, of Holstein, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026 at the Good Samaritan Society of Holstein. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. with the Pastor Dan Barnes officiating at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 A.M. at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein. Private family burial will be at the Liberty Township Cemetery of Meriden, IA.

Doreen Rae Todd was born August 18, 1952 in Cherokee, Iowa to Raymond and Helga (Swanson) Lundquist. She grew up on a farm near Meriden, IA and graduated from MMC High School. Doreen attended Westmar College and graduated with a teaching degree.

Doreen was united in marriage to Marlan Todd on April 5, 1975 in Meriden, IA. To this union three children were born: Tressa, Travis and Kassidi. 

Doreen taught at Willow School, then substitute taught and played piano for music contests. She was a farm wife for 57 years before moving to The Ridge in Holstein in December of 2023. 

Doreen attended the Quimby Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing the piano for their music services, children’s programs and holiday services. Doreen was an avid gardener. She belonged to several gardening groups over the years. She loved collecting the seeds and mapping out her gardens each season. Doreen especially loved her family. She loved seeing the grandchildren and enjoyed watching them play in the yard with the baby calves, kittens and pony. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marlan; parents, Raymond and Helga and her brother, James Lundquist. 

Doreen is survived by her three children, Tressa (Adam) Petty of Correctionville, Travis Todd of Washta and Kassidi (Seth) Schwier of Sioux City; grandchildren, Tyler (Riley) Petty of Sioux City, Elise (Taylor) West of Iola, Kansas, Kaylee Petty of Holstein, Rilie and Sarah Schwier of Sioux City and Jackie, Austin and Jaycie Todd of Correctionville. She is also survived by her brother, Loren (Lynn) Lundquist of Sioux Falls, SD and sister-in-law, Rosie Lundquist of Spirit Lake.
