Dorothy Caroline Henderson

Dorothy C. Henderson, age 95, of Cushing, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at the Holstein Senior Living. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 26, 2026 at 1:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Cushing with Pastor Karen Berg officiating. Burial will be at the Cushing Cemetery of Cushing. A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2026 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein.

Dorothy Caroline Henderson was born October 21, 1930 in Holstein, Iowa to Rudolph and Elsie (Weber) Arp. She graduated from Holstein High School.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Lloyd Henderson on February 10, 1952 while Lloyd was home on leave before being stationed in Korea. To this union three children were born: Bruce, Georgia and Jeffrey. They raised their family on their family farm that was purchased in 1966.

Dorothy’s primary job was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending her days cooking, cleaning, gardening and helping on the farm. She also worked as a cook at the Senior Center. In her free time she enjoyed going for picnics, fishing and spending time with her family.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cushing and was active in the UMW. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; her parents; daughter, Georgia Lynn; sisters, Norma (Lewis) Hammer, Noreen (Robert) Lorenzen, Mary (Delbert) Shever; sisters-in-law, Sharlotte Arp and Sandra Arp; and brothers-in-law, Robert Henderson, Larry Henderson and Richard Grell.

Survivors include her sons, Bruce (Jan) Henderson of Odebolt and Jeffrey (Julie) Henderson of Cushing; grandsons, Jacob (Jolee) Henderson of Cushing, Joshua Henderson (fiancée, Nina Leitz) of Charter Oak, Aaron (Andrea) Nippert of Harlan and Ryan Nippert of Cushing; great-grandchildren, Jace Henderson of Ute, and Jaxon Henderson of Cushing, Kennedy, Drake and Avery Nippert of Harlan, and Rielyn Nippert of Cushing. She is also survived by brothers, Harold Arp of Holstein and Harlan Arp of Salem, OR; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donald (Betty) Alexandria, MN and Sally Grell of Ida Grove, and many nieces and nephews.
