Hubert L. Kessler was born May 13, 1919 to Louie G. and Mabel M. (Thayer) Kessler in Odebolt, Iowa. He was a lifetime Iowa resident, living in the Odebolt and Galva area.
Hubert was united in marriage to Esther Lucille Young. To this union, six children were born. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Galva. Hubert was a farmer and farmed in the Galva area.
Hubert enjoyed woodworking, pitching horseshoes, fishing, playing cards and driving his “toys.” He cherished his family vacations at Fillenworth and loved visits from his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther; his parents; sister, Hazel (Duane) Drake; brother, Wayne Kessler; and grandchildren, Brenda Sue and Michael Ray Shottenkirk.
Hubert is survived by his children, Dennis (Kay) Kessler of Storm Lake, IA, Janice (Bob) Railsback of Odebolt, IA, Joan (Tom) Osborn of Kansas City, MO, Marlene (Bob) Shottenkirk of Molalla, OR, Roger (Sharrel) Kessler of Des Moines, IA, and Gary (Linda) Kessler of Lakeside, IA; 17 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren, with two on-the-way.
Visitation:
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM with the family present from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta.
Funeral:
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the United Methodist Church of Galva with the Rev. Russ L. Burnett officiating.
Burial:
Burial will be at the Galva Township East Cemetery of Galva.
