John M. Hansen, age 71, of Holstein, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2017 at the Horn Memorial Hospital of Ida Grove. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein with the Rev. Paul D. Egger officiating. Burial will be at the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery of Galva. There will be no visitation.
John Martin Hansen was born November 4, 1945 to Mary Doloras (Buchholz) and Raymond John Hansen in Ida Grove, Iowa. He was a graduate of Galva High School where he was active in 4-H and sports.
John was united in marriage to Candice Lynn (Yingst) Hansen. To this union three sons were born, Shawn, Michael and Jeramy.
John was a farmer in the rural Holstein area. He was involved in his son’s Boy Scouts and t-ball teams. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in their sports, music and extra-curricular activities. John was active in the Holstein Jaycees. He enjoyed bowling since high school.
John is survived by his sons, Shawn and Anja Hansen of Duluth, MN, Michael and Rebecca Hansen of Holstein, IA, Jeremy and Melissa Hansen of Holstein, IA; six grandchildren, Skylar, Tylar, Chance, Austin, Ashley and Abby Hansen, all of Holstein; sister, Linda and Mark Kenyon of Earlham, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Raymond and his wife, Candice.
