Raymond William Bergmann was born December 7, 1933 to Alfred and Hilda Bergmann in Holstein, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Holstein. He attended school in Holstein. On June 12, 1956 he was united in marriage to Bevereley Albers at Midway Lutheran Church. To this union four children were born.
Ray owned and operated a service station in Holstein. After he sold the service station, he worked in road construction in Chicago and Arizona until he started farming in Cushing in 1958. Then in 1963 he moved south of Cherokee where he farmed until his retirement. Ray enjoyed dancing, golfing, playing cards and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed spending time in Texas during the winter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dale Bergmann; brother, Robert Bergmann; sister, Lavonne Bergmann; parents-in-law, Harold and Alice Albers; and brothers-in-law, Gordon Albers and Gary Albers.
Ray is survived by his wife Bevereley of Aurelia, Iowa; daugher, ZoAnn Ohlson and her husband Mark of Aurelia, IA and their children, Ryan and Diane Ohlson, Greg and Roxie Ohlson and Trish Ohlson; daughter, Deb McCannon and her husband Jim of LeMars, IA and their children, Abi McCannon, John and Trish McCannon and Sean and Beth Kohlhaas; son, Paul Bergmann and his wife Stacy and their children Brock, Jayde and Cole; six great-grandchildren; brother, Loren Bergmann and his wife Faye; sister Carol Hanson and her husband Jim; sisters-in-law, Ruth Bergmann and Charlotte Albers and brother-in-law, Wayne Albers and wife Kaye; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
