Ron met his Lord and Savior on March 30th, 2026, in his home with his wife, Cathy at his side. Services are pending at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Moville.
Ron Miller was born in Mapleton Iowa, May 11th, 1946 to Raymond and Mary Ellen (Michael) Miller. Ron lived in the Climbing Hill / Moville area all his adult life and has been a member of St. John's Lutheran church in Climbing Hill, Iowa since 1957.
After graduating in May of 1964 from Woodbury Central, Ron enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. In 1968 he served in Vietnam in Combat Duty. In 1970 he continued his service in Vietnam building communications towers until his Honorable Discharge in 1970.
As a young man Ron loved farming and fishing. After a long hot day in the field he and his dad loved catfishing from the Oto bridge, sitting quietly in the cool night air.
His love for the outdoors continued into his adult life. He was happiest with his hands in the dirt... tending to his flowers, vegetables and beautiful lawn. He had an incredible ability to teach himself anything he set his mind to. From computer repair, building and programming to mechanics, from building and remodeling homes to beautiful stained glass creations. He had many hobbies including quilting, canning, sewing, woodworking, winemaking, and countless other pursuits over the years. Ron was a hard worker through and through, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was especially devoted to helping his mom, Mary Ellen, with any and all her needs after his Dad passed in 1981.
Ron enjoyed getting together with family and friends to play cards, drink coffee and discuss the state of the world or just share some laughs. His Marine bravada faded when his children and grandchildren came to visit. He always had a grin on his face that spoke volumes as he shared stories of his grandchildren's accomplishments and antics.
Ron shared the past 24 years with his love Cathy Lant. Ron found joy in life's simple quiet moments - a good cup of coffee in one hand and most often a cigarette in the other. He and Cathy enjoyed many evenings sitting in their backyard garden swing, unwinding from the day.
Ron is survived his wife, Cathy; 5 children, Ronald (Monica) Miller of Cushing Iowa, Heather (Jason) Arment of Windsor, Colorado. David Miller of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dawn Verros of Sioux City Iowa, and Kris Roggatz of Anthon Iowa; 16 grandchildren: Kelli, Amanda, Abbie, Beau, Jakob, Garrett, Ava, Tiffany, Ashley, Ronika, Jeffrey, Michele, Eric, Kilee, Kari, and Ethan and 26 great grandchildren. Ron is survived by 6 sisters, Coleen Wingert, Bonnie (Doug) Hansen, Patti Bryan, Carolynn (Jeff) Locke all of Moville, Iowa. Cindy (Gordon) Ingebritson of Bronson, Iowa and Renae (Rod) Hopp of Forest City, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mary Ellen Miller, a nephew Brandon Bryan, and brother in laws, Joel Bryan and Alan Wingert.
