Pansy Rosalee "Rose" Bahrke, age 102, of Correctionville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at the UnityPoint Heath St.Lukes-Dowtown of Sioux City.
Born on December 1, 1923, in Farragut, Iowa, Rose was the daughter of James A. (Al) and Alice (Livingston) Davis.
Rose devoted many years to her work at the local nursing home, where she served in laundry and housekeeping. She cared for the residents and took pride in ensuring their comfort. She retired at the age of 70 but never slowed down in spirit.
A woman of simple joys and steady passions, Rose was an avid reader, a faithful solver of crossword puzzles, and a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. She rarely missed a game and celebrated every win. One of the highlights of her later years was fulfilling her dream of watching the Cubs play at Wrigley Field in 2017.
Rose’s greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her children Becky (Don) McHale, Carla (Mark) Mathers, and Cary (Stacey) Bahrke. She was preceded in death by three of her children: Sharon (Dale) Kennedy, Kurt Bahrke, and August Bahrke. Rose’s life was also enriched by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends who cherished her wit and unwavering spirit.
Rose will be remembered for her love of books and baseball and her strong spirit that defined her life. She leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, warmth, and a lifetime of memories treasured by those who knew and loved her.
Per Rose’s wishes there will be graveside services at a later date.
