Terry D Gebers

Terry D. Gebers, age 66, of Holstein, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Society of Holstein. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 1:30 P.M. at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein with the Pastor Scott Bieker officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025 from 5:00 P.M.- 7:00 P.M. at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein. Burial will be at the Holstein Cemetery of Holstein.

Terry D. Gebers was born April 23, 1959, in Cherokee, Iowa to Darrell and Mary (Godbersen) Gebers. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Terry graduated from Holstein High School in 1978. He spent the majority of his life in Holstein with the exception of some time in Colorado.

Terry was united in marriage to Lisa (Ridder) Gebers, the love of his life, on September 29, 2000. Terry lovingly adopted Erin and raised her as his own.

Throughout his life Terry held many jobs including working for Michaelson Implement, Baumann Ford Garage, Grell Contracting, Holstein Elevator, GCC, Godbersen Smith Construction and he ran his own businesses, Gebers Trucking and “County Limousine”.

Most evenings you could find Terry tinkering in his garage. He was a self taught mechanic and was gifted artistically using his talents to restore and collect vehicles. He enjoyed buying and selling cars and driving trucks of all kinds. When he wasn’t fixing cars, he enjoyed watching racing and demolition derbies, hunting and keeping his home and vehicles in immaculate condition. He loved to joke around and had a knack for making people laugh. Terry had a kind heart under a sometimes gruff exterior, even caring for the squirrels and birds in his yard. Terry was optimistic about his diagnosis but lost his two year battle with kidney cancer on August 12, 2025.

He is survived by his daughter, Erin and her husband, Zach; grandchildren, Talyn, Sophia, Lane and Gentry and grand-dog, Luther, all of Emmetsburg, IA; step-children, Dawn, Justin, Brittany, Jennifer, Tim and Patrick; mother, Mary A. Gebers of Holstein, IA; brothers, Daniel (Peggy) Gebers of Holstein, IA and Darin (Mary B.) Gebers of Holstein, IA; sisters, Darci Gebers of Spirit Lake, IA and Marci (Jessica) Gebers of Volga, SD; his longtime companion, Heather; and many extended family and friends.

Terry was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Gebers in 2005 and his father, Darrell Gebers in 2013.
