Vicki J. Zahner, age 73, of Holstein, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at the Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center of Sioux Falls, SD after an aggressive battle with cancer. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Holstein with Vicar Emily Anderson officiating. Burial will be at the Holstein Cemetery of Holstein. A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein.

Vicki Joan Zahner was born on October 9, 1951 in Papillion, NE to Clifford Kuhns, Sr. and Edith (Corby) Kuhns. She graduated from Papillion High School then earned her LPN degree.

Vicki was united in marriage to David Louis Niemeier on October 9, 1971 at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. They raised their family on a farm outside of Holstein. Vicki was a farm wife at Niemeier Registered Holsteins and later was a cook for CharMac. She was currently employed as a cook with the Ridge View School District.

She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church where she enjoyed playing in the bell choir and had helped with the children’s church choir. She also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary. While her children were growing up she enjoyed being a Girl Scout leader as well as a 4-H leader. In her free time Vicki enjoyed cooking, baking and tending to one of her many beautiful flower gardens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Niemeier; husband, Danny Zahner; her parents; brother, Clifford Kuhns, Jr. and sister, Cindy Driscoll.

Vicki is survived by her children, Kevin (Angie) Niemeier, Michael (Leah) Niemeier, Shari Niemeier and Jon (Kassie) Zahner; step-son, Josh (Elizabeth) Zahner; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and siblings, Nancy Kuhns and Scott Kuhns.
