Bonnie Jean Satter was born in a farm home near Basset, Nebraska on August 26, 1930 to John and Kathryn (Kackmiester) Kummer.  She attended country school walking 1.5 miles until she was in the 5thgrade when the family moved to Iowa, south of Quimby.  She graduated in 1948.
