Charles "Chuck" Peterson

Charles “Chuck” R. Peterson, age 90, of Correctionville, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020 at the Correctionville Specialty Care of Correctionville. A private family burial will be held at the Correctionville Cemetery of Correctionville with Pastor John Riebhoff officiating.

Charles R. Peterson was born February 20, 1930 in Correctionville, Iowa to August and Lillian (McCormick) Peterson.  He attended school at Cushing Consolidated School and graduated from Correctionville High School in 1947.  Upon graduation he attended college at the University of Iowa.  Charles served in the U.S. Army’s 3rd Infantry Division in Korea from 1951-1952.

Charles was united in marriage to Lavone A. Swenehart in Schleswig, Iowa on August 7, 1954.  To this union four children were born. 

Charles farmed east of Correctionville for 35 years and worked construction for 5 years until becoming disabled in 1991.   He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. 

He is survived by his children, Jim (Hae) Peterson of Lennox, SD, Sue (Mike) Bubb of Sioux City, IA, Dave Peterson of Palm Springs, CA and Nancy (Kendall) Schoen of Ida Grove, IA; grandchildren, Nicole (Ryan) Woelber of Sioux Falls, SD, Kenton Peterson of Thornton, CO, Rachel (Kenny) Hoffard, Camden, Jillian, Audrey and Kallie of Spencer, IA, Ben (Lindsay) Schoen and Harper Schoen of Ida Grove, IA.
