Craig McElrath Obituary

Craig E. McElrath, age 70, of Moville, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Unity Point Health - St. Luke’s of Sioux City.  A private family funeral service will be held at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Moville with Pastor Barb Johnson officiating the service.  Burial will be held at the Arlington Cemetery of Moville. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 20, 2020 from 4:30 - 8:30 p.m. at Craig’s home of Moville.

Craig Elliot McElrath was born July 15, 1950 to Lyle and Leone (Sparks) McElrath in Kingsley, Iowa.  Craig was a lifelong resident of Moville, Iowa and a graduate of Woodbury Central High School in 1968.  He joined the Air National Guard and served from 1969-1975.  

Craig married his high school sweetheart, Vicki Countryman on October 4, 1969 in Moville.  To this union three sons were born.  

Craig did various jobs over the course of his life, but spent the majority of those years farming and trucking, retiring in 2019.  He enjoyed time spent on the farm. Craig loved sports and was very involved in the Woodbury Central wrestling program.  He was also a little league baseball coach and board member.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and Rocky attending countless Woodbury Central sporting events.  Craig especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren compete. When he wasn’t watching sports he loved being home, but especially enjoyed being there when his family was there too.

He is survived by his wife,Vicki of Moville, IA; three sons, Ryan of Park Ridge, IL, Adam (Kelly) of Moville, IA and Luke (Lisa) of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Addi, Lexi, Olivia, Patrick and a new granddaughter to be born in March.  He is also survived by his mother, Lee McElrath of Moville, IA; brother, Steve (Susie) McElrath of Moville, IA; sisters, Sue (Dale) Luikens of Mitchell, SD, Lori (Bill) Willer of Moville, IA and Julie (Mike) Davidson of Ankeny, IA; uncle, Leo (Phyllis) McElrath of Grimes, IA and many nieces and nephews.

Craig was preceded in death by his father, Lyle McElrath and daughter-in-law, Christina McElrath.
