Ethel Mae Stamp Obituary

On Thursday, May 14th, 2020, Ethel Mae Stamp, loving wife, and mother passed away at the age of 97 at.  Ethel Mae was born on April 17, 1923 in Battle Creek, Iowa to Martin and Mable (Fixen) Lenth.  She was baptized on November 22, 1925 at the United Methodist Church in Odebolt, IA.

Ethel Mae attended and graduated from Battle Creek High School.  After graduation she attended the National Business Training School, from 1940-1941, in Sioux City, IA.

Ethel Mae was united in marriage to Ervin C. Stamp on September 14, 1941 at her parent’s home in Battle Creek. To this union three children were born.  The couple was blessed to celebrate 73 years of marriage.

She held positions performing secretarial and clerical duties, utilizing the skills learned at NBT, for 16 years. Five of those years, she worked at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, AZ while her husband, Ervin, was in the service.  After the war she worked at the ASC office in Ida Grove and held other positions at Van Top, Inc., and the Methodist Church plus other companies and individuals that needed her skills.

Ethel Mae was an active participant in many organizations.  She was a 50-year member of Eastern Star, and the American Legion Auxiliary.  She was also the Treasurer of the Republican Women's Party, an active member of the United Methodist Women, Rural Mail Carrier's Auxiliary and was an Ida Co. Easter Seal Chairperson. She also served on the District Easter Seal Board, as well as the Election Board for many years.

Ethel Mae enjoyed spending time with family, helping others, traveling, biking, knitting, doing crafts, dancing, and listening to music. She also enjoyed being with her friends at card club. Ethel Mae loved to gather with her friends and family to celebrate birthdays, holidays, and other special events. She was always busy, a hard worker and believed in truth.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ervin; her parents; her three brothers; three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.

She is survived by her children, Gary Stamp of Des Moines, IA, Linda Judkins of Cedar Rapids, IA and Bradley E. Stamp of Waterville Valley, NH; grandchildren, Jeremy and Courtney Judkins, Nyon, Switzerland, Amanda Judkins of Des Moines, IA, Bradley C. Stamp of Merrimack, NH, and Jackie McLaughlin of Portsmouth, NH and three great-grandchildren, two girls and one boy.
