Katsuko Clark Obituary

Katsuko Clark, age 82, of Holstein, formerly of Storm Lake, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020 at the AbiliT Senior Living of Holstein.  A private family funeral service will be held at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein.  Burial will be held at the Newell Cemetery of Newell.

Katsuko (Arimura) Clark was born March 28, 1938 in Amami Oshima, Japan in a cave on the side of a mountain during WWII to Katsuo and Tamechio Arimura.   She was sold as an indentured servant by her stepfather when she was 13. 

She met her future husband Robert Clark when he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan while serving in the U.S. Navy.  They were united in marriage in Naka, Okinawa on June 9, 1961.  Robert switched from the Navy to Air Force after their marriage and were stationed in various locations including Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, Misawa Air Base in Japan and Forbes Air Force Base in Kansas.  The couple made their home in Sulpher Springs, Iowa from 1974 until Katsuko moved to Cushing, Iowa in 2005 after the death of her husband in 2003.  After getting dementia, Katsuko moved into the AbiliT Senior Living of Holstein in 2015.

Katsuko was a stay at home wife and mother.  She loved fishing, gardening, dancing, and doing her Japanese punch pictures.  Her most cherished times were when she was feeding and spending time with her family and friends.  Katsuko also enjoyed helping with foreign exchange students from the local college.

She is survived by her sons, Rob (Karen) Clark of Washta, IA and David (Annaliza) Clark of Sioux City, IA; grandchildren, Nathan (Jenny) Clark of Willard, OH, Kristie (Doug) McGregor of Sioux City, IA, Matthew (Ashley) Clark of Rapid City, SD, Joshua (Amanda) Clark of Plymouth, OH, Joseph (Andi) Clark of Sioux City, IA, Timothy Clark of Sioux City, IA, Naomi Clark of Sioux City, IA and Mariah (Jacob) Hanslip of Sioux City, IA and 16 great-grandchildren.

Katsuko was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert on August 4, 2003; and infant daughter, Mitsuko Clark.
