Marlene Dorothy Trulsen was born April 3, 1948 to Harold and Erma (Ackelbien) Trulsen in Ute, Iowa.  Her mother died eight hours after she was born.  Marlene’s aunt and uncle, Viola and Otto Kutz took care of her for 14 months when Marlene’s father re-married Gertrude Klaus.  Marlene was baptized on April 25, 1948 and confirmed on April 15, 1962 in the Lutheran faith.  She attended school in Ricketts, Battle Creek and Ida Grove.

She married Arwood Jessen February 12, 1966.  To this union four children were born.  They later divorced.  On July 2, 1982 she married Stanley Crum in Gillette, Wyoming.  They later moved to Galva, Iowa.  They were blessed with two sons.

Marlene worked at Iseman’s Mobile Homes in Gillette and VT Industries in Holstein before retiring.  Marlene was full of life and enjoyed every minute of it.  She loved spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She liked to cook and bake and never turned down an opportunity to go to a garage sale.  She treasured her family and delighted in taking a drive in the country or a trip with any one of them.  She loved cheering her grandchildren on in all sports and activities; they were her heroes.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Tasa (Rex) Rimmer of Schaller, IA, Renee Jessen of Holstein, IA, Michael (Amy) Jessen of Holstein, IA, Kyle (Jessica) Crum of Galva, IA and Matthew (Liz) Crum of Alta, IA; grandchildren, Tiffany (Matt) Cress, Devin (Katie) Madsen, Danielle (Adam) Kenny, Jatelyn Jessen, Naunika, Kyler, Paisley, Mya Marlene, Aubrey, Beckham, Parker and Lennox Crum; great-grandchildren, Harper, Cade and Hudson Cress and Nola and Nico Kenny; one sister, Joleen (Stanley) Nading of Galva, IA and one brother, Bruce (Shirley) Trulsen of Holstein, IA.  She is also survived by her step-children, Todd (Jamie) Crum of Cherokee, IA, Travis Crum of Omaha, NE, and Shannon (Tiffany) Crum of Schaller, IA; step-grandchildren, Kamie and Khennadi Crum, Griffin and Zander Crum and Tyler, Emma and Schuyler Crum.

Marlene was preceded in death by her ex- husband, Stanley in 2018; son, Kirt Jessen in 1970; her parents, Harold, Erma and Gertrude Trulsen; and two brothers, Ronald and Harold Jr. Trulsen; and one grandson, Kordai Crum.
