Max Tomlinson Obituary

Max L. Tomlinson, age 80, of Moville, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018 at his home of Moville.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Moville with the Rev. Barb Spaulding officiating.  A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Nicklas D Jensen Funeral Home of Moville.  Burial will be at a later date.  

Max L. Tomlinson was born August 7, 1938 to Clifford and Elva (Wilson) Tomlinson in Moville, Iowa.  He attended school in Bronson and then graduated from Lawton High School.  After graduation he went to California and St. Louis, MO for a short time to work, then returned to the Moville area to do farm work.

Max was united in marriage to Patricia Boyle on December 27, 1958.  To this union five children were born, Brian, Tim, Jerry, Tammy and Scott.  They raised their family in the Moville area.

Through his career, Max worked at Hunting Hatchery, Siouxland Scale, Moveall Trailers and Prince Manufacturing.  He retired in 2002.

Max loved family gatherings and spending time with grandchildren.   He enjoyed telling stories about his childhood.  He loved fishing and camping and was a skilled woodworker, making furniture for his children.  Max took great pride in caring for his acreage for 55 years, creating a golf course quality lawn in which he was very particular.  He had a great sense of humor until the end.

He is survived by his wife, Pat of Moville, IA; children, Brian (Tammy) of Iberia, MO, Tim (Kari) of LeMars, IA, Jerry (LeAnn) of Moville and Seattle, WA, Tammy (Derek) Parker of Denver, CO and Scott (Kandice) of Ida Grove, IA; grandchildren, Dawn (Eric) Niedergeses of Lincoln, NE, Meagan (Matt) McDowell of Iberia, MO, Kristin (Derek) O’Riley of Sioux Falls, SD, Derek Tomlinson of McCook Lake, SD, Jaelynn Makenna of LeMars, IA, Savannah (Justin) Hogue of Sioux City, IA, Tabetha Tomlinson of Omaha, NE, Bethany Kollbaum of Denver, CO, Alexandra (John) Prichard of Denver, CO, Anna Lenig of Colorado Springs, CO, Michael Tomlinson of Ida Grove, IA, Bella Tomlinson of LeMars, IA and Mallory, Brea and Allison Moore of Ida Grove, IA.  He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Cliff (Joann) Tomlinson of Moville, IA and Marrill (Peggy) Tomlinson of Sioux City, IA; and one sister, Lana (John) Boyle of Lawton, IA. 

Max was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Theron and Edith Wilson and paternal grandparents, Sam and Hester Tomlinson; and two brothers, Dickie and Harold.
