Ray Ehrig Obituary

Funeral services for Ray Matthew Ehrig, age 50, of Correctionville, will be held later this summer.

Matthew passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022 at the MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center of Sioux City.

Ray Matthew “Matt” Ehrig was born on September 17, 1971 in Cherokee, Iowa.  At age five he moved with his family to Fairbanks, AK where he lived for the next 14 years.  In 1990 he moved to Seattle, WA.  He attended Highline Community College and worked in food service and sales.  He returned to Iowa in 2008 and resided in Correctionville.  He worked at Alorica and Interbake Foods in North Sioux and was currently employed at VT Industries.

Matt believed that work was something you did so you could enjoy the things you loved.  Matt loved movies and music.  His collection of movies would have impressed even Blockbuster, the Star Wars series among his favorites.  His taste in music was eclectic with a preference for Rock.  He was a huge fan of Queen.  Matt was interested in history and politics, he enjoyed cooking and playing video games, especially online with out of state friends.  Every Sunday during football season he was cheering on his Seattle Seahawks.  He was very computer savvy and when he wanted to upgrade he would buy components and build his own.

Matt is survived by his mother, Patricia Miller of Correctionville, IA; brother, Michael Ehrig of Correctionville, IA; nephews and nieces, Jordan, Hunter, Hailey and Wyatt, all of Covington, WA.  He is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts and cousins, and a very special circle of friends who he considered family.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ray and Mary Jane Miller and Robert and Arlene Ehrig; several uncles and aunts; and his cousins Ray Miller and Jessica Bauder.
