Betty J. Koeppe, age 90, of Holstein, passed away on Tuesday, August 01, 2017 at the Char-Mac Assisted Living of Holstein.  A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 07, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Holstein with the Rev. Matthew R. Martens officiating.  Burial will be at the Holstein Cemetery of Holstein.  A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 06, 2017 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein. 

Betty Jane Koeppe was born December 29, 1926 in Dixon County, Nebraska to Hans and Alma (Echtenkamp) Holdorf.  She was baptized January 4, 1927 and confirmed May 19, 1940 at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne, NE.  Betty attended country school from first through six grade, then attended Concord NE High School in Wayne, NE, and graduated in 1948 from Ponca Nebraska High School.  She worked in the county attorney’s office in Ponca for five years prior to her move to Holstein, Iowa in 1954.  She worked at the Holstein Advance for a short time, and then worked for 25 years for the Coast to Coast store under the ownership of Dean and Jean Ellenberger and Jim and Cathy Loof.

Betty was united in marriage to Billy Werner Koeppe on October 6, 1949 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Martinsburg, NE.   To this union five children were born.

Betty was a member of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Holstein where she was active in WELCA and a member of the choir for several years.  She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary.  She enjoyed playing cards, gardening flowers, embroidery work and doing puzzles.

Survivors include her children, Timothy and wife Lynn of Muskegon, MI, Billy Joe and wife Sharon of Hadar, NE, Mark and wife Margie of Lawrence, KS, Eileen and husband Jim Munro of Carrolton, TX, and Randy and wife Rhonda of Cottonwood, AZ; eight grandchildren, Jamie and wife Amy Koeppe, Aubrey Koeppe, Nicholas and wife Kylie Koeppe, Matthew and wife Christiana Koeppe, Lindsey Koeppe, Evan Koeppe and Vivian Koeppe; three step-grandchildren, Amy and husband Trent Hancock, David and wife Beth Flermoen, and Rachel and husband Joe Pitocco;12 great-grandchildren; William, Virginia and Margaret Koeppe, Sawyer, Harper and Maddox Koeppe, Gabriel Pitocco, Jaxon, Justin and Dylan Hancock, Easton and Arden Flermoen.  She is also survived by her sister, Bonnie Bauman-Neuhring; brothers-in-law, Werner Koeppe, Ervin (Lucille) Koeppe, Don (Doris) Koeppe and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Billy; her parents; grandparents; sisters-in-law, Shirley Beldin and Alice Koeppe; brothers-in-law, Ben Beldin, Marvin Bauman and Bob Neuhring.
